This web site is designed to be your first source for a wide variety of environmental guidance, policies, and training, plus provide information on your KSARNG environmental program.
The KSARNG environmental program is one of the most successful environmental programs in the Army National Guard, thanks to the support and efforts of every one of our units, facilities, and soldiers.
The KSARNG has received several awards, including Pollution Prevention awards from the Environmental Protection Agency and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE); and National Guard Bureau awards for Pollution Prevention and Overall Environmental Quality.
The KSARNG Environmental Program is composed of a full-time Environmental Office and a traditional Environmental Management Section, both part of the Directorate of Facilities Engineering (DOFE). We are dedicated to providing comprehensive, accurate, and timely environmental guidance to KSARNG units, facilities, and personnel through following four basic principles:
Stewardship - we are committed to ensuring that our units, facilities, and individual soldiers are good stewards of the environment. Through better uses of our resources, reducing the generation of waste, protecting our natural resources, and preserving our cultural resources, the DOFE Environmental Office supports our mission while sustaining our environment.
Innovation -- we are at the forefront of technology and play a leadership role in the development and fielding of new environmental initiatives. This includes distance-based learning and outreach (including this website), providing guidance and serving as a test site for the DLA Hazardous Material Information Resource System (HMIRS) redesign effort, and assisting in the development of the Army implementation plan for the Army Environmental Management System (EMS) initiative.
Community -- the Army National Guard is a hometown force, which makes it unique from the other military services. In Kansas, we instill an environmental ethic in our citizen-soldiers so they can not only perform their military duties in an environmentally sound manner, but carry that ethic into their civilian lives as well. Through this, we have a positive impact on our State, and the communities that we are such an integral part of.
Compliance -- we are dedicated to ensuring that our units and facilities meet their training and mission requirements, while at the same time ensuring that they meet all of the applicable Federal and State environmental requirements.
These principles help to ensure that we exceed all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and standard and be a good neighbor in our communities while still maintaining our military readiness and completing our missions.
